Royal Armouries is a highly regarded publisher of arms and armour titles with worldwide distribution.

We publish books based on research conducted by our curators and experts, as well as catalogues to accompany our exciting exhibition programme.

Regular academic publications include Arms & Armour: Journal of the Royal Armouries published in association with Maney Publishing, and our monograph series. Recent monograph titles have included The Italian Vetterli System; Henry VIII: Arms and the Man and Littlecote: The English Civil War Armoury.

The last cast-iron British smoothbore cannon, the 68 pounder, was 8 inches (203 mm), the same calibre as the heaviest guns of King Henry VIII three hundred years earlier. Their performance was probably not very different either!
