A film strip showing scenes from Northern Film School's films

Inspired by... Northern Film School Collaboration

inspired by Film students have been helping bring history to life in a collaboration between the Royal Armouries and the Northern Film School, part of Leeds Metropolitan University. The successful project started in 2009 and was shortlisted for the BBC Achievement Award last year.

Each year, second year BA film studies students are given a film brief from the Royal Armouries to highlight core objects, stories and issues. The students then pitch ideas and the chosen ones go into production. The final films are screened in Leeds and shown on the Royal Armouries YouTube website.

This year the students were tasked with highlighting links between the Armouries collections and the Olympics.

The films are now on display in the galleries as part of our summer sports-themed events and exhibitions.
