Discover the interesting stories behind the history of Fort Nelson with our daily tours. From its Victorian construction to its key role during the Second World War, our experienced guides will take you on a fact-packed 50-minute tour of the Fort.

The tour will take you through the Fort’s famous tunnels, ramparts, artillery hall and impressive galleries.

Tickets are £3 per adult and free for under 16s.

Experience the power and might of the big guns every day at Fort Nelson.
You can see one of the historic cannon fired in salute every day at 1pm on the parade.

Did you know?

World's biggest bore!

The largest bore gun ever built fired a cast iron ball weighing around 1 tonne, measured 3 ft in diameter, contained 215kg of gunpowder, and fired to a range of 2.4 km (1.5 miles). It is on display at Fort Nelson.
