The museum displays come alive this Christmas with the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Victorian Christmas.

A team of costumed characters will produce a series of performances, bringing to life the kitchen and barrack areas of the museum.

Participants will meet Victorian soldier Tommy Atkins in the Voice of the Guns gallery and are led through the museum to the barrack rooms. Once there they will meet Private Dobson, Fort Nelson’s very own cook in the Victorian kitchens, to learn about how traditional dishes would have been prepared and hear stories of life at Fort Nelson from the perspective of the people who ran it.

Our festive guided tours give an insight into life at Fort Nelson at Christmas.
