Museum admission is free and visitors can enjoy our five galleries, powerful live interpretations and interactive exhibits. Gallery Hosts will answer questions and provide visitors with interesting details about the displays.

There’s always something different to enjoy on a trip to the Royal Armouries. Throughout the year we have themed events, which bring alive certain areas of our collection. The museum also hosts must-see exhibitions with truly special objects.

Thunder birds are go!

Artillery pieces before about 1700 were often classified by names. A rare type of very big gun was known as a basilisk, a more common long powerful gun was known as a culverin while smaller versions were named after birds of prey such saker and falcon.
