History: World War Two
Our WWII sessions explore the daily life of families during a conflict that spanned the Commonwealth. Using original & replica artefacts and clothing students will be immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of the 1940s. These sessions can be used to develop PHSE, Citizenship and communication skills.
A Blitz Tale
- Discover the everyday reality of children’s lives from evacuees to life during the Blitz.
A Spy’s Tale
- Pit your wits against the opposition and crack the codes to unravel secrets from World War II.
- Put you skills to the test with semaphore flags and Morse code machines.
Dig for Victory
- Overcome the dark days of rationing and ‘dig for victory’ in the land army.
- Examine the food and clothing of the 1940s.
- Learn about the vital roles of the Women’s Land Army and the Women’s Voluntary Service.
All Our Families at War
- Explore the global community of the Commonwealth, the diverse wealth of nations who banded together during World War II.
- Learn to ‘make do and mend’ and find out about family life at home during the days of food, clothing and fuel rationing.
A Nurse’s Tale
- Help a nurse to pack her suitcase as she prepares for her journey to the battlefield.
