History: The Tudors
These exciting interactive handling sessions for KS2 are taught in the heart of the museum’s galleries; building direct connections between objects in the galleries and the themes & topics of the national curriculum.
Tales from the Tournament
- Dress in the costume or armour of a member of the Tudor court.
- Explore the reasons why these speculator-sporting occasions were held and the body protection required keeping the Tudors safe from sporting accidents.
Tudor Traders
- A journey of discovery as Elizabethan traders & pirates meet the Mughal court, and merchants of the Japanese Shogun.
- Students explore the treasures of spices, armours, costumes, maps, dyes and ivory.
- Process in costume around the only elephant armour on display in the world.
Dressed to Protect
If you prefer a classroom based session in the Education Centre how about ‘Dressed to Protect’?
- Uncover mystery objects to reveal surprising links between Tudor jousting armour & modern sportswear.
