Studies in Depth: Elizabethan England
Few organisations can offer the range of objects and resources we have available for students of the Tudors.
- Tournament armours in the galleries of Elizabethan Courtiers such as Robert Dudley and Southampton
- We have a ‘Hands On’ approach in the Education Centre with original and replica artefacts
- We use a variety of visual and archival sources
- We examine the changing nature of society in Elizabethan England and the consequences of new trading links.
- These specially constructed Elizabethan sessions focus in depth on key themes in Elizabeth’s reign.
- Includes a twenty minute presentation, using contemporary images, followed by an interactive handling experience with original and replica objects and costumes.
Elizabethan Privateering
- Investigates the motivations, methods and achievements of Privateers.
- Tudor Trade, colonisation and slavery.
- Examines the Armada as a case study.
Progresses, Patronage and Faction
- Investigates the cult of Gloriana
- Examines the impacts of Tournaments and progresses
- Uses key events such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Essex’s Rebellion, to demonstrate the nature of Elizabethan power.

- All sessions last 60 minutes, with a maximum number of 32 students.
- Our sessions are £4 per student, with one adult free per ten students.
