Studies in Depth: Medieval Realms
These engaging sessions are great for exploring power and control in the medieval period. Students get the chance to try armour for size as they examine a range of objects from our fantastic handling collection.
Our collection is ideal for giving students a real understanding of the physical realities people in the past contended with. This session is great for extending students understanding of historical empathy.
Bullet: Bayeaux Tapestry and 1066
Suitable for up to 32 students
- 60 minute interaction for up to 32 students
- An interactive using contemporary images, is followed by an truly interactive handling experience
- Investigates the reliability of the Bayeaux Tapestry as a source of evidence.
- Compares images and original and replica objects to interpret the past
Hands On: Medieval Realms 1066-1500
45-minute interaction for up to 75 students.
- A great way to introduce key concepts about kingship and how power is maintained.
- Uses replica objects to compare rich and poor, knight and footsoldier.
- Uses examples from key battles, revolts and reigns.
- Stimulates interest and encourages participation.
