medieval helmet and sword with WW2 helmet and gas mask

Key Stage 3

Our collection is ideal for exploring conflict through time. We offer a wide range of sessions ranging from object-based sessions in our Education Centre which focus on original objects, to handling replica objects in the galleries.

Use our ‘Analysing Objects’ sessions for a thematic approach to the past with original artefacts. Book a ‘Hands On’ session for an overview study of a particular strand using replica objects. Focus on the past using images and objects with our ‘Bullet’ studies in depth.

We also have a wide range of supporting materials to help you design your own gallery experiences around the museum:
History Pack:
English Civil War
Gallery Worksheets for KS3:
Medieval Realms
Civil War
World War I

NEW THIS YEAR!

Our new Littlecote House Interactive Resource uses objects, photographs and portraits as sources of evidence, and was designed for use on your interactive whiteboards.

All sessions include objects from our handling collection and are accessible to all ages and abilities. Select a topic or theme from below:

Faster than a speeding bullet

The standard Lee Enfield rifle, used by the British Army in both world wars, fired a bullet which left the muzzle at a speed of 720 metres per second and which spun at 144,000 revolutions per minute. Half the speed of a dentist’s drill.
