Imaginative Art and Design workshops have been specially designed for Foundation and Key Stage One students.

Students can use a range of resources to develop creative ideas and explore topics such materials, shape, form and texture, as well as nature and the body.

These workshops can be combined with one of our Storybox sessions to give your students a broader experience.

Reveal the identities of medieval knights and ladies, with our large collection of church brasses. Learn how to ‘read’ the symbols and clues on brasses in this interactive session. Ideal with St. George and the Dragon Storybox session

Venture into the jungle and make monkey marble art through movement and music. Ideal with Rama and Sita Storybox session

xplore patterns in nature using our natural history collection for inspiration, with print-making and stencilling. Ideal with Rama and Sita and St. George and the Dragon Storybox sessions

You, Me and Everyone

Explore the symbols of Japan with Mon, Japanese family crests. Use our Japanese armour and costumes to create your own Mon and then print onto fabric. Ideal with Inch-high Samurai Storybox session

Old idea, new materials

The tips of the lances used by the Royal Armouries jousters are made from balsa wood and are designed to be broken, this was something that was done in some tournaments in the 15th century, though not using balsa wood.
