Our Learning Team are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the Royal Armouries collection. Their breadth and depth of knowledge is astounding, ranging from academic publications, family and local history, to Art Clubs and working with children under five.

Our Learning Team provides excellent kinaesthetic educational experiences which link to the National Strategies and Curricula but also provide cross-curricula links and promote creativity and enrichment learning.

Self-led visits

Council for Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge We fully endorse the philosophy of the Learning Outside the Classroom Manifesto and are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge. For your Self-led visits please use the resources we provide and use our History Packs and Art Packs to help you plan your visit effectively.

National Museums On-Line Learning Project

The Royal Armouries has been involved in a ground-breaking project with eight other National Museums, including British Museum, Imperial War Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Natural History Museum, Sir John Soane’s Museum, Tate, The Wallace Collection and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Did you know?

Faster than a speeding bullet

The standard Lee Enfield rifle, used by the British Army in both world wars, fired a bullet which left the muzzle at a speed of 720 metres per second and which spun at 144,000 revolutions per minute. Half the speed of a dentist’s drill.
