Kids in Museums Be inspired by objects in our collection to create your own immense (often messy) master piece.

Workshops begin at 10am and end at 2.00pm with half an hour for lunch, (please bring along a packed lunch).

Ideal for groups of friends for that special day out but remember to wear old clothes as it could get messy!

Each session comprises of a mini interactive seminar and themed art workshops.

8th May 2010 – Space monkeys and Sputnik

Join the Space race, in this exploration of the cold war. Build your own art rockets using alka seltzer, water, paint & bottles. Then create your own artwork featuring a monkey splattered cosmos.

10th July 2010 – Fling out your Dead!

Investigate the destructive power of medieval siege machines & warfare, drawing inspiration from the Morgan Bible – c1250 (formerly known as the Maciejowski Bible). Build your own device from withies & doweling, load and fire your painty projectiles to build a medieval masterpiece.

11th September 2010 – Sugar Skulls and Souls

Inspired by El Día de los Muertos, we explore how nations clashed during the fight for power in the Americas. With Montezuma, Conquistadors and Elizabeth I all going head to head in the struggle to control the ‘new world’. Create your own decorated or bejewelled skull fit for the Day of the Dead.
