Florence Nightingale

Meet Florence Nightingale and learn why she was so important to Hampshire and Fort Nelson.

Using original objects from our special handling collection and our realistic Victorian hospital gallery; children will learn about what it was like to be a soldier fighting in the Crimean War and how Florence’s skill helped to save a great many lives.

Learn how she reorganised military hospitals including the one at Fort Nelson and how this lead to important changes in medical practice that we can still see in our hospitals today.
