World War I: A Soldier’s Life at Fort Nelson

Fort Nelson was used to billet and train soldiers about to embark on ships bound for Flanders during WW1. Investigate a reconstructed temporary barracks at the Fort, try out a soldiers bed for size and comfort, rifle though his letters and his kit bag. Through poetry and prose imagine the feelings experienced by a young soldier about to go to war.

World War I: Study Day

This special study day will allow students to become fully immersed in the life of World War I soldiers at Fort Nelson.

The day includes three 45-minute interactive sessions:
