Only Water Between is a unique, moving and true story of love, life and loss. Hear the fatally-linked stories of Great War soldier Jack Adam and his wife, and Hiram Maxim, inventor of the machine gun as they unforgettably converge.

The play was first commissioned by the Royal Armouries Museum in 2006. Written by then Writer in Residence Peter Spafford, based on original letters and memoirs from the First World War. After well received performances in Leeds and various media interest the Royal Armouries wants to reach new audiences with this moving and emotive play.

In 2008 the letters were also featured in a short film for the BBC’s Video Nation series which can be seen on the BBC website and on YouTube. In addition BBC Radio Sheffield hosted an interview about the letters and the video was shown on a big screen in Trafalgar Square on Remembrance Day.

The Royal Armouries is sending the play to be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August as well as showing the play at the museum this summer.

Visit the Only Water Between web page for more information about this unique play.
