Children's Activity

It’s a legendary children’s day out – and not only today!

At Fort Nelson, every Tuesday and Thursday during the Summer and half term holidays is an action-packed children’s day.

What you can see and do today…

Birds of Prey

Experienced falconry duo, Mike & Emma Raphael, will be displaying and flying a fascinating variety of birds including a Peregrine Falcon, Hunting Hawk, Eagle Owl, Kestrel, Lanner Falcon and an African Spotted Owl. These birds can be seen all day in the Victorian hawking mews as well as in the three different flying displays at Noon, 1.30pm & 3.15pm

Punch & Judy Shows

Enjoy traditional puppet shows for young and old alike – that’s the way to do it! In Redan Courtyard (behind cafe).

Dream Catcher Workshops

Get busy with paper, card and scissors and you can make yourself an amazing bird of prey dream catcher mobile (£2 charge per child applies). 10.30am – 12.30pm & 2 – 4pm.

Children’s Alphabet Trail

Explore the Fort – can you find all 26 letters? Collect a free activity sheet from the Information Point beyond the shop and follow instructions – it’s a great way to see the Fort!

Entry to the Fort and children’s events is FREE, although a small charge applies for craft activities.

Do something different and bring the kids for a great day out!
