Marie Stevens
Marie Stevens graduated from the London School of Economics and subsequently qualified as a solicitor at Slaughter and May. Prior to joining Ladbroke Group plc in 1987, she ran her own practice for some years specialising in property and pharmaceuticals. She spent 11 years as General Counsel for Ladbroke and Hilton Group plc, and was responsible for the company’s regaining of its gaming licences in the UK in 1993 and, subsequently, the obtaining of gaming licences in Nevada and New Jersey.
After leaving Ladbroke Mrs Stevens set up a company, Corporate Mosaic Limited which provides head office support for, in the main, listed companies. During her time with Corporate Mosiac the company advised on the transition of the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) to a public/private partnership and obtained US gaming licences for Rank Group plc.
From 1999 to 2003 Marie served as a member of The Gaming Board for Great Britain and post that position was a co-founder of Gambling Governance Limited which provides advisory services to the gambling industry. She is a former non-executive Chairman of 888.com plc. Marie is currently involved with various new ventures in the betting and gaming sector both in the UK and overseas, and with the provision of general advice as a consultant.
Marie Stevens became a Trustee of the Royal Armouries in September 2005.
