Pat Langham BA MEd

Pat Langham is the Principal of the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation and the Headmistress of Wakefield Girls’ High School. She was born and educated in Carlisle but moved to West Yorkshire to attend the University of Leeds where she obtained a BA Hons degree in English and Russian, followed by her PGCE and then her Master of Education degree. Her previous teaching posts were all in co-educational comprehensives before becoming Headmistress of WGHS, a selective independent day school in 1987.

Mrs Langham is very active in the world of education. She was the President of the Girls’ School Association in 2007 and continues to serve on its council. She Chairs the Independent State Schools Partnership forum and her school has been at the forefront of a number of partnership initiatives with Wakefield schools. Pat also chairs the Area Training Board for the North of England. She is a former school governor, and has been a member of a wide range of groups including: RCB Army Scholarships Board, Wakefield Training and Enterprise Council, the Girls School Association Council and Education Committee and Leeds University Court. She acts as a Management Consultant and is also a professional speaker.

Pat Langham became a Trustee of the Royal Armouries in November 2004.
