Major General Sir Simon Cooper GCVO

Simon Cooper served in the British Army for 36 years, serving in Aden, Malaysia, Germany, Northern Ireland and the UK. He was Commandant of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and ended his military career as General Officer Commanding London District and Household Division.

He was Master of the Royal Household from 1992 – 2000. He is President of SSAFA Forces Help, Wiltshire, and a Trustee of the Royal Military Chapel Sandhurst.

Sir Simon Cooper become a Trustee of the Royal Armouries in August 2004 and is HM The Queen’s representative.

No rust here

Wrought iron does not rust as quickly as cast iron. At Fort Nelson the Boxted Bombard, a large medieval cannon made of wrought iron is still in good condition despite being left outdoors and unprotected for hundreds of years.
